"Former nipper Cody Simpson throws impromptu mini concert on Surfers Paradise beach in his first ever Gold Coast performance"
The 16-year-old who now lives in America said he would always consider the Gold Coast his home.
He said he felt privileged to be able to help support the club and patrons who taught him as a youngster.
"I grew-up doing junior lifesaver stuff here," he said.
"I’ve never actually played in my home town, so this is amazing."
Simpson said one of his former coaches had asked if he would consider supporting the club and he didn’t hesitate.
It’s the first time I have been home in about 12 months - I’ve been looking forward to this all year,” he said.
Simpson played songs from his new album Surfers Paradise and old favourites from his days as a 13-year-old Youtube sensation.
He answered questions from fans and broke hearts across the city when he told an excited fan he “loved her too”.
Simpson will now enjoy Christmas on the Coast with family and friends after a lengthy tour with fellow teen heart throb Justin Bieber.
While on the Coast, Simpson also took the time to inspect his new custom-made Pyzel surfboard which he ordered to be made months ago.
The rare board which can only be bought in Hawaii or on the Gold Coast was a gift from his uncle and was made by Palm Beach board-maker Dan Patch.
Simpson, an avid surfer, was asked by a fan at Northcliffe what he would do if he had to choose between surfing and music.
His reply, “I couldn’t live without my guitar or my music, so it would be my music every time.”
